Chickens, Gardening & other life pursuits
Today was a lazy day, as much as driving around the country taking pictures of -everything- can be lazy. There was a lot of in and out of the car today, that’s for certain.
Among one of our many stops was a farm that had chickens by the roadside. Little known to us, these particular chickens are fond of red cars and absolutely RUSHED to our car. We found out later after talking to the owners of the chickens, that they have a red car and a red truck – so the chickens see a red vehicle and figure it’s their humans. Too funny. Chickens are quite interesting creatures, I think. I could have watched them for hours. There aren’t only chickens in the country, though.
We found a lovely group of cows along a different road and they were more than happy to sit and contemplate life while I moved around next to them, snapping photos. We also saw goats, llamas, horses, many other cows and a variety of other things common to country and farm.
Upon arriving home, we worked in our garden, putting in trellis and planting cucumbers. I potted a few tomato seedlings. For dinner, our salad included greens from our own garden. There’s something amazing about going out to the garden and returning with flowers and salad greens that I grew. I live in town, yes, but I’m a country girl at heart.
It was a very good day and I have a bunch of file organizing and formatting to do.
